One of the most amazing things about The Grand Canyon state is that you can find differing climatic environments around the region. Depending on the time of year, you can be down in 90-degree weather in the Phoenix area and below 40 degrees should you travel 3 hours up into mountain territory.

Many Arizonians have dual residences for this purpose, to offset the seasons in a comfortable environment.

Valley Life in Arizona

Home to varied tourist destinations, Arizona has significant landmarks that are both breathtaking and awe inspiring. One of the top destinations is the Superstition Mountain range to the east of Phoenix, where many hiking and horse trails lie.

Experience the Old West in the Goldfield Ghost Town or the nearby museum. Be sure to pack a lunch and hike the amazing Petroglyph Trail for incredible scenic views. Are you a fan of the local wildlife?

Hop over to the Tonto National Forest at the Salt River. With red rock sunsets and playing in the water, you may also come across the wild horses that live in the area. Phoenix and its surrounding areas also encompass a great deal of museums, art galleries, and eateries that are an experience all on their own.

Farther South, you can experience the Old West in all of its glory at Tombstone. A town that now thrives off tourism and showing people the heritage of the area. One whole main street is dedicated to the style of the Old West, where you can see impressionists bring old cowboys to life.

Other great attractions near the Tucson area include the Pima Air and Space Museum and Tucson Botanical Gardens.

Life at the Lake

Lake Havasu City is well known for its London Bridge and boating extravaganzas. A truly beautiful destination that welcomes a good time! This gorgeous Arizona city is home to the Havasu National Wildlife Refuge.

Farther North, Prescott boasts incredible lakes, which are perfect for kayaking and other water sports. Picnic at the quaint Goldwater Lake or visit the iconic boulders of Granite Basin Lake. There is no right choice here as both have their own unique charm.

Home on the Mountains

If you are an outdoor enthusiast, the Grand Canyon is one landmark to put in your travel journal. Its deep views of the Colorado River and gorgeous vistas of the surrounding rim are a photographer’s dream. The Rim Trail is filled with picture perfect landscapes and is rich in history.

Trail rides on donkeys down to the bottom of the canyon, a grand hotel on the rim to dine in, or a state campground to pull your family in for the night. You will enjoy the experience of a lifetime.

On your way North to the Grand Canyon, you can stop off at Sedona. Gorgeous art galleries, jeep tours, and deep red rocks await you! Be sure to swing by the notorious rockslide for an ultimate adventure!

Nearby in Williams, Arizona, you will find fun for the entire family at Bearizona! Bearizona is a humane wildlife park that features an amazingly close look at many large animals. From wolf packs to bison on the open range, you will be awestruck by your experience.

Farther east you will come across the Meteor Crater where you can learn about large meteorites and see in-person impact. The tour guides are incredible in their knowledge and the historical site leaves you feeling small in the world. Don’t forget to wave to the astronaut!

All along your way you will come across small towns like Jerome or Wickenburg or Snowflake-Taylor that will remind you of the simple sweet things in life. The people are welcoming, and the fresh air is intoxicating. The cotton candy skies and the starry-starry nights are outdone by none.

Stay as long as you want, as long as you help keep Arizona as it is! Experience the wild west as it was meant to be seen!
